Friendship and Tea go hand-in-hand

Today is a very special day… Happy birthday to my amazing friend, Olive 🙂

There is nothing I don’t love about my special friend!

I treasure the endless hours we spend together chatting, debating, analysing, relaxing, pilaty-ing, laughing, crying and partying.

After work I popped over to say happy birthday and of course enjoy some delicious birthday pastries with real tea the way Granny Hazel likes it 😉

But this tea party was just a rehearsal for what is to come next Sunday..

Eeek I am excited! Can’t wait for the birthday celebrations to continue on this weekend 😀

Besides birthday fever, today is also Wednesday which means only one thing in this blogging world

Peas and CrayonsBreaky was enjoyed in the sun, oats with chia seeds and honey.

Recess was an orange and lunch was a tuna salad and a banana.

After tea at Liv, I headed to gym for an amazing Body Pump class. I came home to a delicious wholemeal vegetarian pizza made by my mum. So good!

Now time to relax and unwind… Lemongrass tea, snacks and family time on the couch 😀

But just before we part, do you have any good books to recommend? I am totally over 50 shades for now.

Oh, and  on the topic of birthdays, what’s a special gift-experience you have given or received?

Signing up for Speed

What a beautifully warm Wednesday we have had in Sydney today!  The day is always that much better when the sun is shining and dress attire is semi-normal, with 3 layers of clothing less than the day before :D.  I couldn’t help but sneak a pic of the blue skies on my way to work..

Now it is time for that awesome part of the week where Iphone photos are loaded up and bloggers come together to share their daily eats and recipes. Thanks Jenn from Peas and Crayons for hosting What I Ate Wednesday!

Peas and Crayons

Breakfast this morning was my usual banana oats with chia seeds and goji berries.

Morning tea time was an apple and peppermint tea, and my staffroom lunch was grainy toast with avocado and chilli tuna.

Afternoon snack time with my sister was tea (of course) which always tastes better at home; with plump and juicy dates.

Dinner was made by my sister;  lentil patties with roast vegetables and salad

So good!, smiles all around!

Oh and guess what? Last night Josh and I booked our next race 😀

This race is 10km, which will give us the opportunity to focus our training on speed rather than distance.

Thanks to all of you who shared your quick-healing secrets with me (Check out my embarrassing running confession which left me with this blister...).. It does seem to be getting better thanks to these little goodies 🙂

But enough about blister blues for now.

My kind of Summer

Would love the theme of ‘What I Ate Wednesday’ to be relevant to me here in Sydney…

But it is not. However, since today was a beautiful sunny Winter Wednesday my pics may just fool you into thinking it was Summer..

Breakfast in the sun; an egg on toast with some spinach, tomato and mushroom on the side. I did the veggies in a pan with a touch of olive oil spray and some cracked black pepper. Check out how I made my egg in the microwave.. completely fuss free!

I had the day off work today, so spent it with my sister who has just returned from her travels. We decided to have a relaxing day at home, then took a nice brisk 3 km walk to get lunch.

Lunch was enjoyed at our favourite sushi joint, Tenka. I had my normal tuna and avocado roll (With ginger, wasabi and soy sauce on the side).

We picked up some delicious dried mango from the fruit shop to energise our walk back home. Can not get enough of this stuff! Would have preferred fresh, but at $5 a mango, I’ll settle for this!

Dinner was salmon, greek salad and roast veggies.  Standard, once-a-week fish dinner, and always a hit at my house!

Deliciously sweet oranges and bananas, peppermint tea and Olympics on the couch to finish off the evening..

Bliss 🙂

Pump it up Wednesday

Peas and Crayons

Thanks Jenn from Peas and Crayons for hosting What I Ate Wednesday! Always a good time to reflect on the day and share food and fitness experiences with fellow bloggers and readers.

My day began with breaky and the newspaper. Peanut butter and banana on soy linseed toast. Never ever disappoints!

Recess snack was a Chobani yoghurt… blueberry is officially my all time favourite flavour.

Followed by a homemade tuna salad for lunch

with a slide of delicious wholemeal, seeded rye bread which one of the lovely ladies in the staffroom brought in today. Freshly baked bread is just the best.

Dinner was salmon, sweet potato chips and a delicious green salad. This was my first time trying sweet potato chips and they were amazing! Highly recommend.

Dinner was served with a side of hot chilli sauce, which makes the perfect dipping sauce. Check out my tips on creating quick and easy dinner meals!

Todays workout was at the gym.  Here I am all geared up with my running toys and new Adidas head phones, which fit perfectly around my relatively larger ears (Thanks Josh :))

Did a quick 2km run on the treadmill before heading to a Body Pump Class.

It has been a while since my last BP class, so today was challenging but it felt good to be back. Body Pump is a weights based resistance training class, which works all the different muscle groups.

What I ate Wednesday #3

My day began with a hearty bowl of Carman’s Honey Roasted Nut oats, with banana and topped with some of the Carman’s muesli.. all which I received in my wonderful package yesterday 🙂

My verdict on the oats? Very yum, nicely textured but no need to add honey as it is very sweet already, almost too sweet for my liking.  The muesli was delicious! Nice and crunchy. It does give my homemade muesli a run for its money 😉

I got a call for teaching today, so a packed lunch was on the agenda.

Recess was delicious and sweet!

For lunch, I toasted my bread and topped it with avo, tuna and basil leaves. Not a great photo as it can be a bit awkward snapping away at your food in a staff room but it was SO good. Basil really gives an average meal an exciting edge.

I then met my lovely friend Gloria for a good catch up session.  My sister and I met Gloria at the gym a couple of years ago and she has become a very special friend, who I just love spending time with!

We went to Oliver Brown, which is known for their chocolate and they did not disappoint.  I had a mint hot chocolate which was very yum.

For dinner, I made a quick stir fry topped with a fried egg, for a protein hit.  I was lazy and bought the ready prepared Chinese stir fry mix from the fresh section of the supermarket. I tossed in in a hot pan with a bit of oil, added some sweet chilli sauce and soy sauce. So simple and very tasty.

As for exercise… does playground duty and walking around the shopping centre count? Rest day for me today 😉

What I Ate Wednesday #2 – Food, Fitness and Fun!

Thanks again to Jenn from Peas and Crayons for hosting WIAW, a great blogging initiative to share ideas on food, fitness and fun!

My day began bright and early with a chilly, but sunny breakfast on the balcony.  On the menu was my special oats with banana, peanut butter and honey. Rich and satisfying. Always hits the spot.

Next I was off to the podiatrist for orthotic scans. Apparently, I am extremely flat footed and the fact I don’t suffer from sever foot pains is a mystery..  Have you ever worn orthotics? Have they helped you?

My commute to work was very pleasant. Blue sky and just-rained-on greenery.  My best.

Early to work again! I enjoyed a coffee while I watched the passing traffic.

Lunch was a toasted tuna and salad sandwich on multigrain bread, with an English breakfast tea.

Afternoon snack @ home… banana smothered in crunchy peanut butter. Perfect combo!

Afternoon tea with my aunty Norma. I love spending time with Norms and what I may even love more is her beautiful tray 🙂

Next on the agenda was Body Step. I hadn’t done this class in ages.  The coordination element to it really challenges me, but our instructor Leisl was great as usual. I always enjoy her classes when I get a chance to go to them.

Here Anna (who happens to be one of my awesome Body Attack instructors) and I pose oblivious to the chaos surrounding us… in the same shoes of course 😉

After gym I popped by Liv who greeted me with THE most delicious homemade orange juice.

And soon after we headed off to dinner @ Tenka, a Japanese restaurant in our hood.  I had the Udon noodles with salmon and vegetables.  Was yum, but I prefer the Udon noodle soup. There is always next time!

What a full and busy day. Just how I like it. Not long until school holidays are over and life returns to being more structured…
